Recall Details
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the rear axle was not properly filled with oil. As a result, the tail bearings could seize, and the pinion stem could break. If this happens, the driveshaft could separate from the rear axle and cause a loss of power to the wheels. This could also cause the vehicle to move when the transmission is in Park, if the parking brake is not used.
Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 9.75" rear axle and a gasoline engine.

Safety Risk:
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury or a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to have the rear axle inspected. It will be repaired and/or parts will be replaced, as necessary.

Issue:
Under certain conditions, a software problem with the front camera module could cause the Automatic Emergency Braking system (AEB) to falsely detect an obstacle and activate when it is not needed. If this happens, the system will stop or slow the vehicle down suddenly.

Safety Risk:
If the AEB system activates with braking when no potential collision is present, it could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:
General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the front camera module software.

On certain vehicles, the driver seat belt buckle may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the reminder chime and visual tell-tale may stay on, even if your seat belt is buckled.
