Godwin Manufacturing and Good Roads win major equipment contracts

6/4/24

Godwin Manufacturing Co Inc. (Dunn, North Carolina) and sister company Good Roads recently won two state of North Carolina DOT contracts. The jointly awarded five year contracts will supply the state DOT with approximately 500 dump bodies and hoists, along with 500 snowplows.

More specifically, the companies are tasked with manufacturing and installing 250 ten foot single axle dump bodies, 250 fifteen foot tandem dump bodies, 250 10 foot snowplows, and 250 12 foot snowplows. NCDOT has the option to increase quantities of all items. The state dump body contract called for the use of minimum AR450 steel construction.

Godwin has announced that it will exceed those specifications with the use of Hardox AR500 Tuf steel construction at no additional cost to the state. Likewise, Good Roads has announced that it too will far exceed state specifications with the use of the same AR500 Tuf steel in the construction of its NCDOT manufactured snowplows.

Godwin companies have made quite a reputation for exceeding quality standards through value added manufacturing processes such as industry leading corrosion protection as standard equipment. Steel dump bodies and snowplows manufactured by The Godwin Group already come standard with zinc thermoset primer and either a liquid, or powder coated topcoat that meets an astounding 5000 accelerated salt spray resistant hours using ASTM B117.

Industry standard is around 2000 hours using the same test.
